Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY, born on 17 March, 1988), known professionally as Grimes is a Canadian musician, singer, music producer, and songwriter. Her first work is described as stretching into "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. It has included influences from electronic music, hip hop, as well as rock. Her songs often incorporate science-fiction as well as feminist themes in the lyrics. She has released five studio albums. Grimes is a native of Vancouver before moving to Montreal. Her first independent career in the latter part of the decade. In 2010, she debuted two albums through Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. She subsequently signed with 4AD and became a household name with the release of her third album, Visions In 2012. Visions has two singles "Genesis", and "Oblivion" that earned her the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. The album that she released as her fourth studio effort Art Angels was released in 2015. It was highly praised from reviewers and numerous magazines voted it to be the top album. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Grimes has also been an actor and judge in Alter Ego's competitions for music, performed as an actress for Cyberpunk 2077 which was released 2020.
